Trekking in Bhutan
Depending on the programme chosen, trekking in Bhutan is pretty much reserved for the adventurous. The climate is much windier, damper and colder than Nepal. The valleys are narrow.
The starting points of treks in Bhutan are generally higher by about 1,000 meters than in Nepal. Furthermore, it is unthinkable to go trekking alone or without the help of somebody who knows the way. Bhutan is sparsely inhabited, there are no detailed trekking maps and none of the routes are marked.
The price of trekking – identical to that of “tourist” tours is officially US $250 per day per person, which includes guide, horses, cook, helpers, food and tents.
